I now officially have one foot firmly in the grave, my time clock clicking to the 60 mark. SIXTY…………..”my god has it been that long”. I know it has ‘cos when I sign up for something online you have to scroll down to your year of birth. Well, I have to do a lot of scrolling I can tell you! I remember TV when it was black and white and we only had one telly….”nobody had two of them”. Telly didn’t start till 5pm and finished at 11pm with the national anthem….I kid you not. There was a phone in the house but you hardly used it as it was so expensive. I watched man’s first step on the moon……….LIVE! I could go on but you wouldn’t believe half of it. I do know one thing though, you can’t predict the future. We all thought that we would have flying cars by now and be holidaying on Mars. Instead we have the digital and communications explosion. No bad thing though. I like modern. Sod the good old days. Bring on the future !!
On Saturday 24 August we will be at Carfest south for another helping of the Chris Evans extravaganza. Had a great time last year. Just can’t get my head around the tenting thing. At my age I want a few creature comforts. By creature comforts, I don’t mean sleeping with the spiders which is what you have to do in a tent. I wonder if Mr Evans is in tent this year ? Or could he possibly be snuggled up in Jodie Schekter’s farmhouse. I know where I would rather be
While on my way to an event I happened to stop at the very busy Clackett lane services on the M25. Having some time to kill ( I really must get those Time Circuits fixed) a small new hatchback pulled up right next to me. The guy introduced himself as Guiseppe and being Italian likened the Delorean to Lambourghinis with similar doors. Having both agreed that the Delorean was indeed a fantastic looking car, Guiseppe , being in a generous mood, insisted on giving me a present and wondered if I had ever heard of the company that he worked for. Indeed I had…..Armani. With that, he proceeded to show me six different items of clothing, from suits to Bomber jackets. He said he was travelling back to Italy and didn’t want to take the samples back. With that, he produced an Armani bag and proceeded to load the goods into it. Wow, thinks me, maybe I have struck lucky. Seems like a very nice chap! On showing me the last suit, he said that he was taking it back for his son and that he must pay his company for it. If I could give him £800 to do this, then I could keep the other five items. At this point I was thinking that Guiseppe must be suffering from short term memory loss because I distinctly heard him say that he was going to give me a gift. It soon became obvious that he was actually suffering from Serious Clothing Armani Malfunction or SCAM for short. We agreed that the Delorean was an amazing car and £800 was definately not coming his way. With that, the samples disappeared along with Guiseppe. It did make me chuckle. I guess ” Guiseppe” can be found around many Service stations preying on the unwary. If you meet him, give him my regards
Wow. I have never seen so many cars from the USA in one place. A fabulous array of V8 muscle adorned the Brands circuit with the Nascar racing providing thrills and excitement on track. The Delorean does turn the heads of course. Mmmmmmm….a Delorean with a V8. Now that would be something !
Some brilliant stuff coming up and I just can’t wait. Last week in the historic town of Arundel the Delorean cruised on to the high street cobbles to give Pete the ride of his life. There just wasn’t enough time to cram everything in to the whole experience but Pete loved it! Now to the Mountbatten centre in Portsmouth. The Doc is going to do some time travelling, alternating between 1955 and 1885. Time travel is possible. If you want to see for your own eyes then come along. It will be…………………………………………………….amazing !!
How long to links last? Do they work forever or does the internet push them off a cliff after a certain time? Take the link below. Will it be there in 3 years time? Also, technology is overtaking me on a daily basis. I’m astounded at how amazing apps are. I just don’t know how they work. Do you? I can download an app that allows me to track an aeroplane as it crosses the country telling me height, speed, destination etc ,etc. It’s instant ! But how does it work ?? Do I worry about this or let it go over my head and just accept it for what it is? I wanna know!! Please enlighten me. Pleeeaaassee !!!

With the Delorean parked outside the wedding venue in the picturesque village of Alfriston, I happened upon the owner of the stunning country house . His name is Michael and he invited me for a coffee and a chat. Turns out, amongst other things that his family used to live in Tangmere, the famous WW2 airfield in Sussex. Fighter ace Douglas Bader would sometimes stay in the house during the war. After the war, during the making of the film ” Reach for the sky” Douglas Bader once again stayed at the house along with his one time enemy, German Fighter ace Adolf Galland. Michael remembers well his father telling him to sit in the room and listen to the two aces talking about their exploits, as it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness a very special moment. O, to be a fly on the wall then. The Timecar may not be able to travel in time, but in a funny sort of way, it transports me there if you see what I mean. O, how I love it. Lucky me !
Being early for a wedding, I stopped on an industrial estate to kill time and pulled up opposite a snack bar. To the owners surprise , out of the Delorean steps me masquerading as the Doc ,as usual .( In my defense the groom wanted it that way !) Over a coffee the owner and I have a not unusual conversation about Deloreans and wigs etc. Turns out that his father lives in Tintagel, Cornwall and has been known locally for 20+ years as Gandalf as he bears a striking resemblance to said character with long flowing hair, the staff etc complete with his partner…….a white witch ! He has even been featured on the Discovery channel on a program about King Arthur. Very interesting but the guy is obviously eccentric. Thank God and Gandalf that I’m not like that At the wedding I have another tenuous encounter with other historical characters, a man with no legs and a German WW2 fighter ace. Read on
Call me old fashioned, but a wedding is a beautiful thing. It carries the hopes and expectations of those involved and I am priveleged to be an outsider looking in the window of other peoples worlds courtesy of the Delorean Timecar. I love it. I could people watch for hours. Everyone making a special effort for the big day. All dressed in their finery, some dressed to thrill, some dressed to kill and some barely dressed at all! It’s a wonderful thing and when the Delorean is out for the day there are always stories to be told. Take last Saturday. On the way to a wedding in the picturesque village of Alfriston I had a close encounter with Gandalf the grey ! Read on
A great day with the Supercars and Italian motors on Easter Monday. The police escorting the exotic convoy always makes it extra special. The Delorean wowed the crowds and more than held it’s own in such esteemed company. See link below
